The Transition Center at the Samuel Field Y is an innovative program for all community members over the age of 50. The Center provides exciting social, recreational and educational programs for those who are experiencing lifestyle changes, seeking to explore new horizons, and expand their social network.

Activities and programs include a variety of day and evening programs such as:

• Retirement, career and financial workshops
• Friendship Circles for both singles and couples seeking to enhance their lives
• Educational programs
• Jewish Cultural experiences
• Trips and special event activities
• Volunteer opportunities

This program is funded in part by UJA/Federation of New York.

CARING CALLS

This program improves the quality of live for frail seniors by helping them to remain in their own homes as independently as possible by providing them with companions for a small fee.

Caring calls workers can provide:

·       Help with paperwork and bookkeeping
·       Companionship and friendly visiting
·       Errands and shopping
·       Escorts to doctors

Trained professionals and volunteer advocates offer the following services at no fee
 for adults 18 and up:

• Individual Counseling
• Weekly Daytime & Evening Support Groups
• Term Crisis intervention
• Safety Plan
• Evacuation kits
• Court Accompaniment ( for orders of protection only)
• Linkages with legal assistance programs, shelter placement,
   other domestic violence services
• Information and referral services for family members
• Professional and community trainings in all areas of family violence
